School funding inequitable? Or poorly funded?

State Journal Register

Education Funding (36a)

Illinois legislators have proclaimed Illinois to be the most inequitable state in the nation when it comes to school funding. I would like one of them to explain how they know that is true. What criteria were used to make that determination? Were all states examined using like data and the same criteria? Probably not.

What they probably mean is that Illinois ranks dead last in the nation when it comes to the percentage of school revenue from state government. Recent statistics put that figure at 25 percent.

I guess they get inequitable confused with poorly funded.
