Skillicorn said there is frustration in the 14th Congressional District about whether residents are being represented in Washington. The 14th District is represented by Democrat Lauren Underwood.

In February, Skillicorn said in a statement that if he has to run for another position to ensure families of Lake, McHenry, Kane, DeKalb, Kendall, DuPage and Will counties – all of which compose the 14th District – have a voice to represent them, so be it.

In a letter to Republican leadership regarding the pizza party event – which was meant to strategize how to win back the 14th District – Skillicorn said he has demonstrated the conservative reform leadership that will save the nation and improve families’ lives.

“And, I am serious about helping President [Donald] Trump drain the swamp and empower the American people,” Skillicorn said in the letter. “If I am fortunate enough to serve as your congressman, I will be a tireless party builder to peel back the corrupt, corrosive influence of Nancy Pelosi and the new batch of Democratic socialists that threaten our jobs, communities, families and freedom while benefiting special interests.”

A number of Republican challengers already have thrown their names into the 2020 race, including Crystal Lake resident Danny Malouf, U.S. Navy veteran and Naperville resident Matt Quigley, St. Charles resident Anthony Catella and state Sen. Jim Oberweis, R-Sugar Grove.
